Below is a short teaching from my preaching notes on SECRETS OF THE HEART
It is one thing to know the secrets of mans heart – but it is a better thing to know the secrets of God’s heart. So many people are concerned about their own destiny, and what is happening in their own life, yet do not take time to press into God to find out what is on the heart of God.
We are called to first draw near to God and then He will draw near to us. It is the heart of God to reveal His secrets to His children and show us how to walk Holy before our God. Unfortunately so many Christians are only concerned for their well being and disregard and do place importance on finding out what is the Heart of God, the Mind of Christ or the Counsel of the Holy Spirit.
If we seek to find out the secrets on God’s Heart, pursue to get the mind of Christ and search out the Counsel of the Holy Spirit, then we will prosper in our ways and be blessed in all we do.
Mat 6:33 But let your first care be for his kingdom and his righteousness; and all these other things will be given to you in addition.
Secrets of Mans Heart
Psa 139:23 O God, let the secrets of my heart be uncovered, and let my wandering thoughts be tested:
Generally the secrets of man is:
- self centered:
- Status.
- Finances.
- Relationships.
- Health.
- Personal achievements and many other things.
Deu 29:29, 30:11 - 16 “The secret things belong unto Jehovah our God; but the things that are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, …”
The secrets of the heart of God is:
- To take delight in you and enjoy His creation.
- To bless you and turn you from your wicked ways.
- To reveal Himself and all He is to man.
- To draw you near to Him and bring you into His presence.
- To give to you the desire of our heart.
- To increase your territory and cause you to be the child of God you were destined to be
1Ch 29:17 And I am conscious, my God, that you are the searcher of hearts, taking pleasure in righteousness. As for me, with an upright heart I have freely given all these things; and I have seen with joy your people who are here to make their offerings freely to you.
Jeremiah 20:12 But, O Lord of armies, testing the upright and seeing the thoughts and the heart, let me see your punishment come on them; for I have put my cause before you.
Psa 17:3 You have put my heart to the test, searching me in the night; you have put me to the test and seen no evil purpose in me; I will keep my mouth from sin.
Deceptive Packaging:
Through its laws, our country declares it a crime to lie about the contents in a box of cereal. These laws demand that the outside of the package tell the truth about what is on the inside. Deceptive packaging is illegal. "Truth in advertising" regulations are another way to protect the public. A good example of this is the warning on a pack of cigarettes: "Smoking causes lung cancer, heart disease, emphysema, and may complicate pregnancy." Unfortunately, there are no such laws about people. We require no one to tell what really lies behind the packaging-the clothes, facial expressions, mannerisms, speech patterns, or affected behavior. No one is forced to tell you what he or she is really feeling, thinking, or planning to do. Our deceptive packaging-the way we appear to others-is an accepted, even an expected part of our way of life. We have become experts in this type of trickery. Before we are going to get the help we need, we need to confess this sin of hypocrisy. Only then can we go on the path of discovering and knowing our real selves.
Remember Psalm 139; 23. “O God, let the secrets of my heart be uncovered,”
It is most important to guard your heart at all times.
Quote from a child. "Look, Mommy, this potato is so big and nice, isn't it?" Then the mother peeled it and cut it in half. How surprised was the little girl when she saw it all black and hollow in the middle. "Oh, Mommy," she said, "this potato is like some Christians, is it?"
You must call on the Lord to search your heart and clean up actions.
Please pray this prayer today.
“Father God, I call on You to change me into Your image and likeness and give to me a clean heart and a righteous spirit. Amen”
